Minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on Thursday 31st May 2001 at Truro School

Minutes
A copy of the minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting having been distributed to all present, it was agreed that they be taken as read. A copy was signed by the Chairman.

Secretary's Report
In his capacity as grader, the secretary reported that, following the fiasco of the previous list, the current process showed signs of improvement such that there was a reasonable expectation that the new list would be time and accurate.
He called for suggestions as to how best to celebrate the centenary of the associaton in 2002/03.
The secretary also informed the meeting that he had no progress to report concerning the special match intended to celebrate the centenary of matches between Cornwall and Devon.

Treasurer's Report
The treasurer presented the accounts for the 2000/2001 season. These are appended at the foot hereof. As the post of auditor was vacant, he requested that the chairman verify the year end bank statement balance. This was done and the accounts were approved.

League Secretary's Report
The league secretary reported that the County Shield had been retained by Truro A with Penwith A 2nd. The clubs liable for relegation were Newquay and North Cornwall, the latter retaining their place in division 1 by reason of Camborne not entering a second team in the 2001/02 league. Liskeard A were division 2 champions, with Camborne B finishing 2nd.
The A. W. Busby Cup was won by Godolphin A who tied with Truro in the final and won the trophy on board elimination. Liskeard won the Under 115 trophy, defeating Truro in the final.

Match Captain's Report
The match captain reported that Cornwall had reached the national stage of the County Championship for he second time , defeating Hampshire and Somerset and drawing with Wiltshire in the WECU section before losing to Warwickshire.

Junior Secretary's Report
The junior secretary reported on the year's activities, the competition winners being listed below. He thanked all those who had assisted during the year.

Postal Secretary's Report
In the Sinclair Trophy Cornwall obtained 14 points out of 26, finishing 7th out of 17 counties. He indicated his desire to stand down in view of increased commitments within the Association.

Motions
1) The league secretary proposed the following motion which was approved: "That, with effect from the 2001/02 season teams in division 1 shall consist of 5 or 6 players and teams in division 2 shall consist of 4 or 5 players, the numbers to be determined at the secretaries' Meeting immediately prior to the season on the basis of one vote per affiliated club. If a club is unable to be represented at the meeting, it may record a valid vote provided this is sent by post or email to the secretary by a date to be specified in the notice of the meeting. If a club has more than one team and its first team plays in a division where the number of players in a team is 5, the number of number of players to be nominated in accordance with League rule 13 shall be reduced to 3."
2) The secretary proposed that, with effect from the 2001/02 season, the Aelred Horn Cup be contested as a quickplay circuit, consisting of a number of events to be organised by the County Association and by volunteer clubs and that he should draw up a set of rules for approval at the Secretaries' Meeting. This motion was approved.

Fees 2001/02
The treasurer proposed that the board fee for league matches should be remain unchanged at 90p. This was approved

Any other business
The secretary informed the meeting that J. Hollingworth had suggested an individual postal championship and that the new Postal Secretary had agreed to organise one if there was sufficient interest.
C. Tylor informed that meeting that Chris Reeves of the Truro club had been elected vice-president of the British Chess Problem Society.
The secretary announced that the Secretaries' Meeting would be held at Truro School on Thursday 5th July at 7.30 p.m
There being no other business, the chairman declared the meeting closed
