Online Summer Congress

This was a weekly five round fortnightly Swiss from June 15 to July 13 at a time control of 25'+10" for two games per round. Final standings, round by round scores and the prize list are here.


Cornwall v SC Heimbach-Weis/Neuwied (Germany) - 8/6/2021

This proved to be a highly enjoyable 90 minutes of Blitz against the strong Heimbach-Weis club from Neuwied in Germany. It was a lichess team battle over 16 boards at a time control of 5'/3". The final result was a win for Heimbach-Weis by 198-136. Given the difference in the average ratings of the teams, this was a better result for Cornwall than expected

Many thank to Petra Nunn and Robin Kneebone on the Cornwall side and to Christian Fink from Heimbach-Weis for organising. It is clear that everyone had a good time.

Main event

The main game in the final, between Robin Kneebone and John Nunn was drawn. John won the event by defeating Robin in the tie-break blitz game (5'/3")

Bude Spring 2021 All-Play-All

There were 6 players. The final round was played on 27 May. The tournament was won by Maurice Richards with 4/5. Final standings:

    Cornwall Online League (season 2)

    In the last round, the league leaders, Calstock & Lerryn Killers, met Falmouth & Truro 1 who were a point behind. The result was victory for Falmouth & Truro 1 who win the competition. Congratulations to them.

    Trelawny's Army, Falmouth & Truro's division 3 team are promoted and will play in division 1 in season 4. Bude are promoted to division 3.


    1st Bude Open Swiss

    This was a five-round Swiss with 10 players. The final round was played on 15 April. The tournament was won by Maurice Richards with 5/5. Final standings and round by round scores are here.


    Western Counties Online Championship

    Congratulations to Devon who dominated throughout and won with a 100% score, dropping only 12 game points out of 90. Cornwall were 2nd with 4 wins.

    Bude Under 125 Congress

    This was a double-round all-play-play with 10 players. The 18th and final round was played on 25 February. Final standings and round by round scores are here.


    1st Cornwall Online Rapidplay

    This was a one day five round Swiss played in two sections on Sunday 24th January 2021. The rate of play was 30' + 10" . Final standings, round by round scores and the prize list are here.

    Thanks are due to Goru Arvind of the Fiji Chess Federation and our president, Professor David Jenkins for setting up the match in the first place, to the experienced FIDE Arbiter Adam Raoof for controlling the match on the Tornelo platform and to Cornwall captain Robin Kneebone.

    Having beaten Horsham 1 by 4 - 0 in the semi-final Trelawny's Army, Falmouth & Truro's division 3 team will meet Catford Cosmonauts 2 in the divisional Final on 15th December.


    1st Cornwall Online Congress

    This was a seven round fortnightly tournament in four sections (three APA, one Swiss) with two games per pairing at 30'+15". Final standings, round by round scores and the prize list are here.


    1st 4NCL Hull Online Congress

    This was held as a five-round Swiss from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November.

    Cornwall Online League

    Play in season 1 of the the Cornwall Online League ended on August 16. Congratulations to winnwers, Bude who finished two points clear of Calstock/Lerryn Killers and Camborne Pendarves. Final table and links to results here.

    We plan to start season 2 in the new year when the Cornwall Online Congress is completed.


    National Online Club Championship

    The first National Online Club Championship, organised by the The English Chess Federation ran from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 June on similar lines to the OTB National Club Championship. Two teams entered from Cornwall: Bude and Trelawny's Army (Cornwall county). Full results of the Cornish teams are are at html/online/ncc-jun2020.html.
